DADT seems to be an issue that has run it’s course. everyone knows that gay people should be smart enough to stay out of the army. I am against using young people to fight for old fearful greedy people’s pocketbook. The M$M keep it in the news to divide the people and to keep the focus off of bigger issues that Wiki Leaks is trying to focus our attention on.

  2. Hey guys this link works better for posting on facebook:

  3. Morning,

Sam do you have your “Uncle Sam” image bigger? I could make you a T-shirt… (to go with your calendar?)

  4. Nefferkitti says:

    Mornin’ peoples.
Tis a cold windy rainy day here – we shall see if weather affects the sammy cam or the live audio feed.
Meanwhile – get warmed up at the bar
Coffee, tea, hot chocolate – with your choice of xtra warming splashes on the bar !!

  5. DADT makes no sense to me. I’m all for equal rights, civil rights, human rights, but I just can’t support anyone wanting the right to join the military. It’s oxymoronic to my philosophical abhorrence to violence or anything close to it.

During the Vietnam War, calling yourself “gay” was one of the best ways to avoid service. Why would they want to take that “out” away? By the time I was up for Selective Service in 71′, thank the gods that Mike Gravel decided to filabuster until the SSA expired, and also that Dan Ellsberg with the help of Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn and some others released the Pentagon Papers and all saved my ass (and lots of others on both sides – except for in Cambodia which got Kamir Rouge worse).

The Dream Act is also a scam, a recruiting tool.

    • Mirella says:

i agree with you; I would also add that these two issues are perfect for just distracting from the heavy-duty economic debate, redistribution upwards which is going on while we busy ourselves and clog the media airwaves with these other cultural wedges

      • taozen says:

cultural wedges that was the term I was thinking of Mirella thanks.

        • Noam Chomsky does a good job of explaining these “cultural wedges” in regard to the only differences between the single-party two-faction system we have.

People ought to feel foolish about how they are so easily manipulated on topics that have little or nothing to do with either average daily life or survival. Except in either the extreme or in a minority.

          • gloryoski says:

Last paragraph: I don’t agree that this is a reason not to focus on these issues. Minority rights are important; this is just doing them the wrong way.

DADT repeal is OK as far as it goes. The dragging it out and the implicit glorification of the military (focus on LGB military “heroes”–although their activism can be seen as heroic) is what makes it a shiny object. Still some LGB people are going to in the military (out of necessity or brainwashing) before everything gets fixed peacewise (haha!) and it ought not to be a worse hell for them than anyone else.

Dream Act is not OK, although now young activists who were ALREADY doing the college option have been put in a horrible position if it doesn’t pass.

So it’s hard, very hard, but not dropping our critique of the distracting nature shouldn’t mean minimizing the struggles of the ppl involved.

    • Joining the military give some folks a leg up, and they also have some really sweet golf courses.

I heard somewhere that recruitment has been up with Obama. Revise your statement to, I can’t see anyone joining with Bush as prez – and I agree.

      • Squeeze every other industry and open up recruitment and that’s what you get. A system that appeals to your sense of self advancement by demanding self-sacrifice…

        • Obama has delivered on beggining the drawdown in Iraq……and I do believe that the fact that he is not TOTALLY INSANE helps get people to volunteer for the military. But ideally, we need to be doing Peace Corps, public works projects, all that jazz with volunteers instead.

          • A drawdown to 50,ooo troops is an equilibrium to the size of the invasion force, so I fail to see this kind of “drawdown” as the campaign promise of “total withdrawal”. And the 50,000 troops (battlefield soldiers) that will be left behind (if that’s the actual final number), doesn’t count support troops, contractors or other types of regimental people assigned to the diplomatic corp. you’re just kidding yourself if ylu think he’s actually doing something positive here.

And his “sanity”. Who are you or I to know Obama’s true state of mind. anyone who seeks this kind of power (president) has to be insane. And that observation came from someone I heard years ago. Someone like Chomsky or Vidal.

The sooner we put our collective feet down and quit compromising/capitulating on the very value of life itself, the sooner we can stop the killing and the dying.

  6. Nefferkitti says:

Does anyone have the sammy cam? Says off-air for me?

    • Mirella says:

      not working for me either

i thought it might be because of sam’s stomach bug; doesn’t wanna show himself vomiting on air

    • plooger says:

SammyCam says “offline” for me, as well, Neffer. (had to reload the web page to even get that to show up)

      • not-sam says:

Sammy-cam is down today (the notorious computer is on the fritz, and the new one is on the way). Probably a blessing given Sam’s stomach-ache.

  8. Class struggle, the “haves” against the “have-nots” is probably the oldest and most original form of competition there is.

Ever since the first caveman coveted someone else’s cave, mate, food or fire.

The four original needs: Food, shelter, safety and sex are still our most basic needs, but which we now cannot obtain directly, but must use currency to do so. That has allowed the otherwise physically inept to hoard without actually working for the rewards of everyone who does physically work for their needs.

I loathe them all too, Sam.

    POLITICO Breaking News

A revised plan from President Obama’s deficit commission out this morning is roughly the same as the original, with slightly higher cuts for discretionary domestic spending and slightly lower savings from overhauling the medical malpractice system.

  11. Mirella says:

    the closet door is back!

    • plooger says:

wooHOO!!! (though I have to admit…. I totally did not get the joke, back when, without someone pointing it out to me)

    • gloryoski says:

      Seriously? (I know, I know…)

    • plooger says:

Of course, ’cause when I think about Sharia Law, I think about gay rights run amok.

It’d be funny if it weren’t so sad (and divisive, dangerous, etc).

  12. It starts today:

    Happy Chanukah Sam!

The FIRE Next Time: End-Game for the Elite’s One-Way Class War

    By Chris Floyd

    http://www.opednews.com/articles/The-FIRE-Next-Time-End-Ga-by-Chris-Floyd-101125-564.html

We are, he says, entering the end-game of a decades-long process of wealth transference in which the entire burden of sustaining society, a degraded, hollowed-out, inhumane society and a bloated, belligerent militarist oligarchy falls entirely on working people and the poor, while the elite reap all the profit.

    • I’ve always wondered how even the upper middle class could be so naive to think that at some point the ultra wealthy would stop and say, “well I’ve had enough”. They just don’t understand that a billionaire looks down on a millionaire just like a millionaire looks down on everyone else. These elitists will eventually be the new service class for the top 1 or 2%. The lower classes and poor will be Soylent Green or some such.

I mean it’s physics. When you start a ball rolling downhill it can’t stop unless it meets an equally opposing force. I don’t know what that would be if THE PEOPLE won’t get off their asses and get busy…

      • i’m trying.

i think of my family often.

this is a cycle we’ve gone through before.

the challenge is to break the cycle in an innovative way.

        • Yeah, since the first caveman realized he could force, trick or otherwise convince others to take care of his survival needs. From there “luxury” came into being.

And the invention of agriculture sealed our fate forever.

  14. OK, can’t listen live.

Am I sad? Yeah, a little. Is it my fault? Yeah, maybe. Why? I just don’t know. I JUST DON’T KNOW!

Don’t yell at me. I just want my Morning Sam.

    • plooger says:

If you’re like me, you might have several Ustream windows open, along with the audio-only stream. (I had the Ustream open from an earlier attempt to access it, and was a bit confused when the audio finally started coming through — on top of the audio stream.)

Thanks for the timely podcasts Majority Show! I am busy counting ballots in our (MN) Governor’s race recount so I can’t listen live. For anyone who participated in the Target Boycott or cares about MN the light can be seen at the end of the tunnel. Emmer will not overcome his 8900 vote deficit-his challenges are pitiful- and we’ll have Gov. Mark Dayton by Jan. One win for the good guys.
