  1. Morning all.

  2. namaskar! Bring on the festival of lights under the feet of lame politicos!

  3. plooger says:

Wanna participate in The Majority Report?

    ===> check this out <===

  4. Sandy McGee says:

    Morning all – I can’t believe it’s December already!

    W0W

    • plooger says:

Yes, and I’m especially annoyed that the weather has turned, as well, making my choice to postpone hanging the outdoor Christmas decorations over Thanksgiving weekend most regrettable.

  5. Nefferkitti says:

Morning all. Happy Chanukah! Latkes at the coffee bar for you.

  6. Sandy McGee says:

Still having problems with I.Ming Sammy ???? Can’t figure it out. I send the message ……. but he then it just goes to I.M. land (somewhere)

    ?????????

    • plooger says:

What IM client are you using, Sandy? Here’s a thought… Let me fire-up my IM client (AIM Express) and you can message me, as a test.

What’s your AIM ID? (mine is ‘ploogr’ — no ‘e’, cause apparently someone else laid claim to the e-included nickname. grrr)

      • O.K. – Sorry I was writing out some bills I have to pay.
Let me get it up & I’ll let u know when I send it out – I just go by sandymcgee50. thanks!!

    • Nefferkitti says:

Send an IM to majorityfm or samsedershow using an IM client that is compatible with AIM – or use AIM AIMexpress
Your IM will show up on Sammy’s computer and he will read it and respond during the post show chat. He won’t write back – just respond by talking – thats how you will know he sees it. He responds to every one he sees.

  7. ThresherK says:

Creation Theme Park? It’s a good bargain to give them their own if it gets their stuff off the gift shop shelves at a real National Park.

Museum? I’m from Bridgeport, and it worked for Barnum.

  8. jeebus loved the dinosaurs

  9. sam “200 grit” seder being abrasive?

  10. plooger says:

Please tell me this guy is one of Sam’s friends, and this whole ‘Creationism’ interview is a spoof.

    • Nefferkitti says:

Hate to tell you this but that was a REAL phone call. I remember it from back in the day. The whole call is hysterical.

      • plooger says:

I remember it from the old show, but it’s so surreal that it defies belief.

        • Nefferkitti says:

Well, yes that is true. If I remember correctly there is a link to the whole call on the Samsedershow webpage.

        • its for real. its in hebron kentucky which is just west of the cincinnati airport on i-275. whats really embarrassing is the huge billboards in cincinnati advertising it.

  11. bluetexas says:

Sam, can you guys post a wish list of items you need for the office/studio? We want to help!

  12. Majority Reporters, Hear My Battle Horn,
This song will be perfect for a Boehner theme song, the sobbing, the slurring of words, you better get on that impression Sammy, dubbya is getting worn out.

  13. It’s the monetary system Sam. It’s all wrong. We need a fiat system, not a debt based system like we now have or a collateral based system such as gold or silver. Both of those systems allow for disparity in wealth to be easily manipulated by those who control the issuance of the currency. A fiat system is based on sustainable growth by and for the community. We’re talking apples when we should be throwing them out with the worms and talking oranges instead…

    Morning all!

  14. who is this Sam is interviewing..sounds like scott horton

  15. Of, I think, a much more important nature…

Interpol, the Fed and Judicial systems, our President and way too many members of our government leadership, pundits and hacks (Huckabee for instance) are painting Julian Assauge (and “suspected” leaker Bradley Manning) as being akin to a terrorist, when he (Assauge) is in fact more akin to a journalist (I say “akin” because his integrity and courage separate him from the more common contemporary journalists).

We need to take a moment to think about that, and the potential future implications to our already too soft and too complicit 4th Estate. If we allow the rhetoric to demonize Assauge as though he is not a journalist, and more important not responsible for the initial leaks, while essentially every media outlet that subsequently received these cables is in an identical position, we will even further allow governments to keep secrets from us. And not just that, but it will further discourage the media from questioning anything, until we know nothing but their lies. although the thing that bothers me now is I believe it has already gone that far, and I often am not sure what I’m hearing if it is true or not. How can someone successfully live in a reality where reality itself is in question?

Come on, some of you chime in here. What can we do, that we can do quickly, effectively? The FCC and Net Neutrality are part of this immediate danger and together with the wikileaks case should be joined in this cause. And time is wasting. Every minute counts I believe.

Ideas are needed here. Action is needed here!!!

  16. Sam, someone else on DemocracyNow looked at that Fed rule yesterday and they suggested it will be applied differently from how you seem to think. This person believes that instead of giving recourse to homeowners, the bundled mortgages that went toxic is what will be returned as defective, effectively putting the burden of the entire speculation debt that just tanked our economy will fall to the banks, and they will fall like dominoes. As much as we’d like to see that, it is our money they are using.

  17. Fed Names Recipients of $3.3 Trillion in Crisis Aid

The Federal Reserve, under orders from Congress, today named the counterparties of about 21,000 transactions from $3.3 trillion in aid provided to stem the worst financial panic since the Great Depression.

Bank of America Corp. and Wells Fargo & Co. were among the biggest borrowers from one program, the Term Auction Facility, with as much as $45 billion apiece. Some aid went to U.S. units of foreign institutions, including Switzerland’s UBS AG, France’s Societe Generale and Germany’s Dresdner Bank AG. The Fed posted the data on its website to comply with a provision in July’s Dodd-Frank law overhauling financial regulation.

  18. Poor Sam – He must go crazy getting all of those nutty e-mails. But I’m sure makes for some good laughs @ times.

  22. George Takei Calls Out Anti-Gay Arkansas School Board Member

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UACK93xF-FE

    • F**CKIN’ EXCELLANT!!!! Thank you Dan!

It’s called “shaming” and there is not enough of it. When I was growing up in the 50s and 60s, that was all you had to do to make someone behave. I mean our parents did it all the time to us.

Make someone feel left out or unwanted by the “group” and watch how quickly they change their tone. Or if they do the opposite, then give them enough rope to hang themselves…

The “group” is supposed to be We The People. But sadly in order to shame someone you must have the “decency” to recognize the civil transgression. Our leaders seem to evermore lack any remnants of decency, and as our national leaders are, or should be our largest social role models.

Takei seems to remember also that in the 60s, the celebrity side of our society held a responsibility to help average people voice their concerns and discontents with our leaders. With very few exceptions, we do not see much of that kind of activity anymore…

  23. Yes, the day-traders are the “worker ants”, but to think there is not a “queen” or cabal somewhere is really a little naive. And even if there is not really a Bilderberg group meeting once a year to do other than play Bridge, or there is not a Dutch origin banking family named Vanderbilt that has had a great monetary and economic influence on the entire world for generations according to most accredited history curriculums, it’s not good investigative reporting to throw out any leads until vetted, yes? So while Alex Jones may be a conspiracy nut on the extreme side of the coin, can you disprove everything he claims?

    • If I push my car off down a hill without a driver, I don’t have to do another thing to know that there will be a series of predictable events that happen on it’s way to the bottom.

The President of our country doesn’t carry a rifle, but his actions and decisions cause other men and woman to kill in uniform.

If human nature wasn’t predictable, religion at the least would be unsuccessful. Not to mention psychology, psychiatry, even astrology, fortune telling, magic acts, on and on.

It just really sounds lame to say that there is no one pulling the strings just because you cannot see the connections directly.

I absolutely agree about all the “real” problems you see in the world, which I think all stem from consumerism, either through direct action or by consequence. but if there are behind the scene, hidden powers, how do you propose to correct things if you absolutely deny their existence?

  25. not sure what this tumbler is that Sam spoke of, anyone got a link?

  26. Heard from Sam today that he isn’t into “lyric driven” songs. That doesn’t really mesh with my vision of a more fun talk radio platform…that engages the audience in new innovative ways…no offense Sammy, but the show can be a little dry….oh well, it was fun trying, and nice to get him to say Jimmy Reefercake on the air a few times. I’m still a fan.

Anyone have any ideas of other progressive talk shows that may be more interested?

  27. Great Show Sam.
Great Story about you on the set of “According To Jim”.
You and Jon Benjamin are such Pranksters ! :)

  28. mornin gang!

Listening to the podcast, best explanation/exploration of the mortgage default scam I’ve ever heard!

  29. Informative, but frustrating that a lot of this info has nothing actionable. No solutions, just more information.

    • eya Jimmy Reefercake !

      good to have ya here.

i’m the epitome of a “lyric driven” bluegrass musician.

we’ve had this issue pop up before. best fix we came up with is to post our tunes on the bloggies from our own webpages which we’ve done ever since.

we’ve even done a bit of collaboration on the blog.

i do my best work on the phone though, i’m a slooooow typist.

      • Right on Jim! I’d like to hear your stuff. My vision is that if there is enough good stuff that there could be some sort of progressive news/music podcast come together.,,,of course I ain’t quitting my day job anytime soon. ; )

        • “My vision is that if there is enough good stuff that there could be some sort of progressive news/music podcast come together.”

been there, done that, we STILL doin it!

MB “maggies boy” with a bit of our help has a superb progressive 24/7 playlist on his show with news and weekly panel discussions with his/our bloggie and guests:

listen to the radio show and find the newest blog thread and join us.

  30. “No solutions, just more information.”

    yup.

solutions are a bitch. what we need though at every level.

we need to remember how to “create opportunity”.

  31. My take on Alex Jones is that he will present, for the most part, interesting facts that appear sound. But then he will take those facts and draw conclusions that do not necessarily follow. Many of his arguments are enthymemes. That said, I don’t mind his passion and his attempt at providing the public with good information. I just wish he would draw more logical conclusions from the facts he presents, be more open minded about other possible conclusions, or withhold from drawing a conclusion at all.

    • Hi Ryan, meant to ask you this- Does he play any “lyric driven” listener created music on the air?

    • i got to admit, anyone who uses enthymeme so exquisitely in a post, needs to be recognised!

“An enthymeme (Greek: ἐνθύμημα, enthumēma), in its modern sense, is an informally stated syllogism (a three-part deductive argument) with an unstated assumption that must be true for the premises to lead to the conclusion. In an enthymeme, part of the argument is missing because it is assumed. In a broader usage, the term “enthymeme” is sometimes used to describe an incomplete argument of forms other than the syllogism, or a less-than-100% argument.”

      • gloryoski says:

Yup. I enjoyed having to look it up, Ryan. Thanks.

Sometimes AJ’s theories seem more like enthymemic collages, only constructed entirely out of farts. ;-)

    • Thanks for the recognition! I’m not sure what lyric driven listener created music means though.

  32. Never heard of this Alex Jones. I’ll check him out sometime. The web site looks interesting. Does he play any “lyric driven” listener created music on the air?

  33. AH-nold – a bunch of guys from the 19th century -cute squirmy squeally kids lit menorah and danced here in Sacramento, CA. Hmongs danced and celebrated New Year, while in my neighborhood 2 bible holding Ukrainians spoke in tongues at the top of their voices in an acoustically enhanced vestibule area of a strip mall. Later, an oriental woman, hands on hip, scowled at Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowls on NBC TV in the Gym locker room, and I count the number of store fronts in 2 mile route back to the condo: 71

  34. Does Alex Jones cover the reefer madness conspiracy well? I think that reefer laws fuel a lot of the general distrust of government that makes people believe all kinds of crazy shit.

Look at the chart. It is a reallyreallyreally FUN chart. :-)

Best chart I have seen in a while…

  36. Interesting and very good points about what Sam is saying about Alex Jones and how their site does try to make money of the real concerns of people. However, I do have to disagree on several points he makes during the broadcast.

First, when debating it is important that you attack the data and not the character or person presenting the data. Calling Alex Jones and several people who follow him “NUTS” or “CRAZIES” does nothing to prove your case, except insult the people who have listened to him. Next time you want to say that you do not agree with the things Alex Jones says or does, please just say it and then show why. Don’t resort to childish name calling like the Bill O’Reilly or Keith Olbermanns of the world. Just like you need Mr. Jones to back up his claims, we as an audience also need you to do the same.

The other point I would like to advise you on is that Alex Jones didn’t just pull many of his ideas or conclusions out of thin air. I am not a huge Alex Jones fan, however I can say there are a lot of highly credible and highly educated people out there saying very similar things. They also do it with a very moderate tone that excludes an end of world doomsday scenario. There may be problems with the format in which the information is being presented, but it does not mean it is bad information. Alex Jones is just one type of media stream trying to say something. If anyone is interested in more moderate people who are not as commercialized as Alex Jones then I would suggest people Google search:

    Professor Peter Dale Scott
    Catherine Austin Fitts
    Michel Chossudovsky
    Michael Hudson

    Just to name a few.

And finally, I liked how in this broadcast you noted that Alex Jones does not come up with any real solutions. The same could be said about your show. I understand that you are broadcasting to help people stay more informed about the situation in the world, but what are your proposed solutions to the problems we face? How about making some suggestions about what you think we could do as an alternative to Alex Jones?

In the end I will say thank you for your commentary on Alex Jones, the people who listen to his show, and what you believe their current state of mind is. I can honestly say I was a bit disappointed by this broadcast. I look forward to your future broadcasts being more professional, less insults, and more proposed solutions. Keep up the good work and have a good day.

P.S. To think that people or organizations who’s primary goal is to make money, like a bank or large multinational corporation, do not care about politics or being more influential in that arena, seems like an odd statement for you to have made. If that were the case I think we would not have the issues of lobbying and campaign contributions that we currently face in our political process.
