RT @BreakingNews: A federal judge in Virginia has found part of the Obama care law to be unconstitutional – NBC

    • Virginia judge finds health-care mandate unconstitutional

From NBC’s Pete Williams and Domenico Montanaro
A federal judge in Virginia has found part of the health care overhaul to be unconstitutional.

      Here’s AP’s write up:

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A federal judge in Virginia has declared the Obama administration’s new health care law unconstitutional.

U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson is the first judge to rule against the law, which has been upheld by two others in Virginia
      and Michigan.

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s lawsuit challenged the health care law’s requirement that citizens buy health insurance or pay a penalty starting in 2014. The case challenged the federal government’s constitutional authority to impose the requirement.

Other lawsuits are pending, including one filed by 20 states in a Florida court. Virginia is not part of that lawsuit.

The U.S. Justice Department and opponents of the health care law agree that the U.S. Supreme Court will have the final word.

Dinesh D’Souza wrote that Obama had a “Kenyan” anti-colonialist world view inherited from his father. A blogger (on Salon?) did a great take-down of D’Souza’s eugenic -inherited ideology….Not Nigerian, Sam….

  12. 29th Pct. Voter says:

    Sam,

Did I hear you agree with Nixon’s assessment of Irish people? This actually reminds me of something John Stewart once did when he was interviewed on the Larry King Show. Stewart was commenting on an Irish Journalist who seemed to be giving President Bush a hard time during an interview (she was peppering the President with a number of questions our timid press had neglected to ask) and Stewart said “well we know the Irish…” and made a drinking gesture with his hand. I guess because you and John are both Jewish and have both publically found the drinking sterotype to be something useful in a comedic sense, I can now create a new sterotype about Jewish comics being racists toward the Irish. Think I am being unfair? Sure I am and that is the point. In terms of alcohol, you need not be Irish to have a problem with it. Just ask Sen. Al Franken if anyone in his immediate family has had any issues with alcohol.

  13. Hi, Sam:

An “hr” in Icelandic is an voiceless “r.” Voicing is a movement of the vocal cords. “s” is voiceless; “z” is voiced: the voicing is the buzzing.

So, an “hr” is an “r” sound without a voicing. Oh, and the “r” is lightly trilled. It’s hard for English speakers.
