Tonight is the big State of the Union (SOTU) address though that is not the story that kicks off The Majority Report. Sam reports, with a chortle, about Rahm Emanuel being kicked off the Chicago Mayoral ballot because of residency restrictions. Though it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy <You are… a douchebag>, it still seems like a BS ruling.
Update - Illinois Supreme Court justices deciding whether to hear Emanuel’s appeal.
Sam spins the classics and finds the Obama Administration’s favorite classic rock anthem: Don’t look back - because Karl Rove violated federal law and Eric Holder doesn’t seem to care. If there’s one thing these guys are great at is to only look to the future and not worry about the sins of the past.
Next Hullabaloo’s Digby comes on to talk about what we can expect from Obama in the State of the Union address tonight. She also helps feed Sam’s Social Security cut fatwa with speculation on what Obama might propose and the mindset of the Democrats when it comes to cutting Social Security.

Curious about this new Wibiya toolbar. If I connect thru one of my accounts such as Twitter or Facebook, does that mean what I type in the chat shows up somewhere on my Twitter or Facebook page? I keep seeing this situation across the internet where I can connect to something interactive via my Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo accounts, etc. but I’m worried that doing so means people connected to my other accounts then know what I’m doing across the web. Advice? Thanks!

Just a bit of comment about yesterday’s show before the pod for today comes up…
Yesterday Sam said he didn’t think the Comcast takeover of NBC was part of the departure of Keith Olbermann.
Interestingly, other rather abrupt changes in direction were taken at the very same time, but these *are* attributed to the new regieme at NBC.
For instance, the new Wonder Woman series that David E Kelley is shopping around. NBC had rejected it.

I don’t think that it is any coincidence whatsoever that Comcast is greenlighted on Tuesday to buy NBC, Thursday Comcast replaces the head of programming on Thursday, and Friday Keith Olbermann is gone. (And yes, I understand that primetime programming on NBC is not the same as programming on MSNBC… it is the pattern that I am establishing.)

what a good range of bloody plain common sense talk today, Sam — Shit in your lounge, where does the wealth come from and where does it go, Piven and Beck; etc etc — all good down-to-earth, important stuff.
I appreciated the way you got yourself up to speed on Asange, after a *somewhat* cool treatment of him in the beginning, reflecting I suspect the mainstream media treatment of him. A willingness to learn is vital for people in your situation, and often missing
I have one big whinge, however — Climate Change is the big issue for the world today. Please get it more onto your radar — we all, but Americans (and us Australians) especially, need to get our heads out of the sand on this, for our kids’ sake especially
