Guest: Blogger Jesse Russell

Thursday’s here and so is the infrastructure for the Members Only section of the Majority Report website and podcast. If you are a member you should have received an email from the MajorityReporters last night with your password and link to your special podcast feed (if you haven’t, check your spam folders). Those members that just joined today will get their emails soon. If you are not yet a member of The Majority Report please join to support the show and get the extra benefits of membership.

Sam starts the show talking about Robert Reich’s new tax proposal to

raise the marginal tax to 70 percent on incomes over $15 million, to 60 percent on incomes between $5 million and $15 million, and to 50 percent on incomes between $500,000 and $5 million

and some of the responses to the proposal.

Next Wisconsin blogger Jesse Russell of Dane101 and LaborRadio.org joined Sam to discuss day three of the state’s massive protests against Governor Scott Walker’s anti-union bill. Teachers in the city of Madison have staged a “sick-out” today shutting down the school system.

For up to the moment information on the situation in Wisconsin check out the Twitter hashtag SolidarityWI.

Next the show kicks into some Wing Nut News:

Surprise, Surprise. The Creationist Museum does not allow same sex couples to enjoy their dioramas of lies. This same outfit is running the new Noah’s Ark Theme Park. Since they are receiving public funds/tax breaks to build the monstrosity, what’s the real chance they will be an equal opportunity employer?

And a creationist story can only lead to one thing:

Mr. Sam Seder whips out his favorite story book, Journey Through the Creationist Museum, and reads a few chapters about how everything in the world was perfect until god created Eve from Adam’s rib and she f*cked everything up.

The wing nut parade continues with someone who must have heard Sam’s interview with Ross Brockley last week. South Carolina wants to create its own state currency to weather the “upcoming” monetary collapse. How much are those SC Bucks worth in Georgia? Yeah, right.

South Dakota lawmakers are trying to pass a law that says homicide is justifiable while resisting an attempt to harm a fetus “to a degree likely to result in the death of the unborn child” therefore making it legal to kill abortion providers. Latest reports say that they may pull the bill altogether.

Mississippi may commemorate early KKK leader Nathan Bedford Forrest on a license plate. Governor Haley Barbour will not distance himself from this issue.

Kansas Republican Representative Connie O’brien can tell who is an immigrant because of “the olive complexion.”

Finally on the Members Only post show Sam gets all “Atlas Shrugged” on us, talks up Membership (don’t get left out!), tells some more Air America Radio stories, and can’t stop loving John Galt!

Tomorrow Doug Benson will be pinch hitting for Chris Rosen. Chris meet Wally Pipp.
