Guest: Journalist and blogger David Dayen

It’s the Monday after the Oscars and Sam mentioned that there was very little vocal support for what was going on in Wisconsin even though everyone on stage or behind the scenes last night were union members.

Judith Regan said in a document related to a lawsuit that Fox News head Roger Ailes asked her to lie about her affair with Bernie Kerik in order to save face for Rudy Giuliani. Good thing Fox News only reports the facts and lets us decide.

The US is getting more aggressive with Libya. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is urging Muammar Gaddafi to step down and said that a no-fly zone was “an option we are actively considering”

David Dayen of Firedoglake spent the last 5 days in Madison WI and joined Sam to give us an idea of what is like on the ground. Just this weekend 100,000 people went out in a snowstorm to protest and unlike the weakening of the Democrats nationally, the Wisconsin state Democrats are standing firm and not buckling.

Who really contributes to Wisconsin’s public employees’ pension funds?

A Gallup Poll finds that, no surprise, only the wealthy support Scott Walker. Stop the press.

A new entity has injected itself into the Wisconsin labor battle – Anonymous. The “hacktivists” are now targeting Koch brothers. This is from their press release:

Koch Industries, and oligarchs like them, have most recently started to manipulate the political agenda in Wisconsin. Governor Walker’s union-busting budget plan contains a clause that went nearly un-noticed. This clause would allow the sale of publicly owned utility plants in Wisconsin to private parties (specifically, Koch Industries) at any price, no matter how low, without a public bidding process. The Koch’s have helped to fuel the unrest in Wisconsin and the drive behind the bill to eliminate the collective bargaining power of unions in a bid to gain a monopoly over the state’s power supplies.

Last night they took down the Koch brother’s website for their PAC Americans For Prosperity. Sam can’t help but be a little giddy about their involvement and how they represent the 21st century version of “sit-ins”.

And if you are going to pre-order the excellent Oscar winning documentary Inside Job, do so with this link from The Majority Report Amazon Store. Bookmark and use that link to purchase anything from Amazon and take a little cash from big business to support an independent liberal voice.

If you are not a Majority Report member you  miss out on the Members Only Show podcast where Sam talked about that anti-war machine hippie Dwight Eisenhower, wondered why the Sunday Shows hate organized labor so much,  took us back for more “bad old days” stories from the halls of Air America Radio, and squeezed in a few more news stories that did not fit in the free show all while taking listener’s IMs.
