Guest: Journalist Chris Hayes

Breaking News! Because of the listeners generous donations, Sam will be traveling to Madison, WI this weekend to give us reports at the heart of the middle class movement.

After last night’s vote, it is finally clear that the mess in Wisconsin was only about killing the political and economic power of the working and middle class. This has nothing to do with the budget. But we already knew that.

Below is the video of the shady dealings that the Republicans in Wisconsin pulled last night and how the one Democrat did his best to stop it.

Think Progress has some background on how what you just saw in that video violates the state’s Open Meeting Law.

The Nation‘s Washington, DC Editor Chris Hayes joins Sam to discuss the two Americas, his new article in The Nation titled Why Washington Doesn’t Care About Jobs and also weighs in on the latest developments in Wisconsin.

Death threats and protesters have delayed the official voting on the WI labor-busting bill into this afternoon.

Will all this tip the scales on the Wisconsin Supreme Court elections on April 5th? And will Walker try to push this through even quicker to make sure it doesn’t go up against a Democratic tilted SC?

Wisconsin recall bid picking up steam.

Sam says David Dayen is reporting a lot of news from WI and he is worth checking back with often on Firedoglake.com.

Naomi Klein was on with Rachel Maddow about Republicans using economic crises (real or ginned up) as an excuse to push through radical conservative and corporate agenda items.

Breaking - It looks like the controversial bill to strip college student’s voting rights in New Hampshire is dead for now.

If you are not a Majority Report member you miss out on the Members Only Show podcast. Join today to get your daily recommended allowance of Sam!

Today you missed out on Sam admitting that Lady GaGa exists and has done something admirable, found out that MR listeners really want him to go to Wisconsin, and took listener IMs.

Here is Chris’s Nation article about why Washington doesn’t care about jobs. You might get a pop up asking for your email address. I don’t usually give it, but I did since it’s The Nation.

  4. Past few days I’ had a server error on this page. Odd that it happens just when Sam starts his show!

    • Sunshine Jim says:

      yup,

500 and 503 errors for the first 20 minutes and when you finally get the site up you notice that the sound is broken up when a critical point is about to be made.

  6. Is MR under cyber attack today?

  7. Linda in Denver says:

The only good thing about this is that I love the technical difficulties music. It always makes me smile. :)

  8. @toniD re protesters leaving in tears: where do you see this grief going next?

  9. How about a general strike? See how the super rich like their garbage piling up outside their doors?

How about the unions re-incorporating as Delaware corporations and moving their pension funds off of Wall St and into State Bank of India??? (corporate equivalent of F**K U to Walker & Koch)

  10. American workers need to start seeing how their brothers & sisters in less tame parts of the world stand their ground!

But they DID vote for these people (even if by NOT voting)!

I hope they realize that msnbc and progressive media had been sounding the warning bells for this ALL of last year before the elections! They DID have a choice!

  11. Yes Sammy… the left has been completely negating the cultural aspect of the Tea Party movement as a primary motivator for their involvement. The more “real” the consequences of their misguided actions become for them, the more serious and level headed their thinking will be… In the end, making a decent wage trumps the joys of hippy punching… It’s all fun and games until someone loses their benefits….

Walker has single-handedly turned this from a culture war to a class war…

  12. Linda in Denver says:

Sam has really done his homework on this.

  13. Chris points out the need for LOGISTICAL work to make PROTESTs effective!

  14. Recalled WI senators will take their vacations at Koch Industries no doubt! Who else has backed their actions? Or else they will take cover from JP Morgan’s shill in the Obama house???

  15. Linda in Denver says:

I didn’t realize the SammyCam was on. Thought it was just on for the flip side. Happened to look and it’s on!

  16. Negotiate with Governor and Secretary of State, Sammy!

Sam, have fun explaining to everyone in Madison that your sound effect ISN’T the “Viking horn” they use in Minnesota!

  20. Blank Squirrel says:

Glad i happened to listen live today so i could be part of that shofar action. Keep on giving, podcasters! Sammy needs a bit of walking around money, amirite?

In fact, if Sam gets enough money from us, Scott Walker may want to meet with him personally.
