Guest: Author and journalist Yves Smith
TV ALERT! Sam will be on the Dylan Ratigan Show today (3/14) on MSNBC 4:00pm EST
Sam is back from his trip to Wisconsin funded by all the great Majority Report listeners. Sam has a lot of awesome pictures, video, and stories from his trip. There will be more pictures and videos posted today and tomorrow (including a new That’s Bullshit episode) so keep checking back.
While Sam was in Madison a triple disaster happened in Japan; a 8.9 magnitude earthquake which caused a devastating tsunami, and now a possible nuclear meltdown.
CNBC host Larry Kudlow said this telling line about the earthquake in Japan: “The human toll here looks to be much worse than the economic toll and we can be grateful for that.” He has since apologized.
Sam shares this interview with a sanitation worker from the protests in Madison, WI. Sam said it really drove home to him how this is a very personal issue to many on the ground there as Governor Walker’s actions impacts their families directly – and not for the good.
Firefighters first withdrew around $192,000 in a “Move Your Money” campaign from Madison’s M&I Bank, a bank that was a huge supporter of the Scott Walker campaign. Since then that number has compounded with even more firefighters taking their money out of that bank.

Yves Smith, author and founder of Naked Capitalism.com joins Sam to discuss the recent dump of Bank of America emails by the hacktivists Anonymous and she explains what they expose about the way BOA made tons of money in an insurance scam.

The Obama Administration says that Bradley Manning is being treated fairly so when State Department Spokesman P. J. Crowley decried that Manning’s treatment was “ridiculous, counterproductive and stupid,” he was fired. What a progressive administration.

This (sanitation worker) is my favorite interview-and I love Sam for realizing so quickly what this was about, and adjusting his own demeanor. It is powerful.
3:40 pm
It is… just listened to it. It’d be nice if they could post an audio link to it – the jumpy low-video quality is kind of distracting, the audio represents it better i think. i’ll email them.
11:49 am
Sam’s dressed up today.
12:19 pm
Considering the 30:1 lending ratio in fractional reserve systems that 192,000 comes out to about $5.8 million available funds lost for that bank to circulate…
Definitely not peanuts…
12:21 pm
Another good story re P.J. Crowley’s dismissal.
12:42 pm
Sam, there is a tradition in the midwest of an alliance between farmers and labor, going back to the 1930′s. We have no Democratic Party in Minnesota, it’s the Demcratic Farmer Labor Party-DFL. There were farmer and trucker coordinated actions in the 30′s, stopping grain from going to market because of the unfair prices being paid. It was great to see the farmers out there in support of labor-as well as their own interests in Badgercare.

Is it possible to get audio/video of Pilot Light that we can embed in Web posts? It is nowhere to be found on the Web. Thank you.
Then, the next question is, does anyone from the show ever read these posts?
4:26 pm
Has Sam been on Ratigan yet? I only just saw the post about it.
