Guest: Journalist Greg Mitchell

We start off today with continued concern about those suffering in Japan. As the search and clean up effort continues brave workers are fighting radiation poisoning day and night to keep the Fukushima nuclear plant from meltdown.

Rachel Maddow has been doing a great job in explaining the science of what is happening inside a nuclear plant.

Now to the Middle East where the fighting is intensifying in Bahrain and rebels are losing ground to Gaddafi’s forces in Libya as the UN discusses a No-Fly Zone.

And now to domestic issues and the incredible amount of bad news coming from our government:

  • With mostly GOP support, a U.S. House panel voted to stop the Environmental Protection Agency from regulating greenhouse gas emissions
  • Thirty-one Republicans on the House Energy And Commerce Committee — the entire Republican contingent on the panel — declined on Tuesday to vote in support of the very idea that climate change exists.
  • Americans continue to express less concern about global warming than they have in the past
  • Bradley Manning’s treatment has been reviewed by the General Counsels of the Department of Defense, Navy and Marine Corps and found to be legal, according to the Pentagon. He now wears a “tear proof garment” and does have blankets and a pillow.
  • Social Security reform is splitting President Obama’s economic and political advisers. Obama is being pulled in opposite directions by those whose priorities are fiscal and those whose No. 1 concern is electoral.
