Retirees Occupy Century Aluminum
On Dec. 18, a dozen retirees, men and women in their 60s, 70s, even 80s, began occupying a median strip along Route 33 in front of the closed Century Aluminum smelter in Ravenswood, W.Va. In tents and under tarps, a small group stays overnight, despite hypertension, arthritis and other old age ailments. One has suffered a stroke.
These vulnerable people expose themselves to weather extremes although some have no health insurance at all. Century cancelled it. That’s why they’re occupying Century.

Maybe this is a good time to ask another housekeeping question I’ve been meaning to ask. Is the Sammycam now on only during the IM’s? I see it says that now. So no more cam during the regular show?

The Sammycam is live during the entire show, and it streams replays of the show at other times. (Unfortunately, it makes needing to pay to get the Better Half unnecessary. Sam?)

I only get the previous day’s cam, even though I click on the Sammycam icon inside the Listen Live box.

I realize this must be complicated to design and implement, but the Sammycam opens with no indication of which date you’re watching. After a couple of times I realized I was watching the previous day’s show, despite clicking on the icon that is clearly placed inside the Listen Live box. Also, maybe it’s just me, but it seems counterintuitive to have a huge banner for yesterday’s show the first thing that hits the eyes when the page opens. Yeah, it says Recent Episode, but then a newbie has to search down the page to figure out how to listen live. Almost discourages listening live.

It was only a matter of time until the establishment finally got tired of Sam’s relentless criticism and took him off the internet. I’m only surprised that the web site hasn’t been replaced by an FBI notice accusing him of sedition. I just hope that they’re at least playing music he likes while they’re depriving him of sleep in whatever dark hole they’re keeping him in now. Sam, my prayers go with you.

This is not good. I actually panic when MR goes silent. Then pissed off when the “not able to find web site” comes on. If Sam wanted to make a point he succeed. My only action was to go on FB, and see if others are having the same problem. Called the radio show – wait. I was caller no. 3. Wait. What are we going to do when we lose our free speech because someone doesn’t like what Sam is saying? Sam please plan backup! I don’t see this getting better.
