    the sweet spot for me has always been about 9 years.
    Never spent more than $2200 for a car.
    paid $250 in 1984 for a 1976 car and it lasted 6 years.
    on average i spend $1800 every 6 yrs.
    Although as cars become more complex, making repairs
    myself is happening less often.

      the 30 thou milage is the target on a used ride.

      i always check the rental car agencies for their used cars.

      good maintenance and low prices, no BS and extended warranties are transferable
