  1. I agree with Sam. I vote for what the outcomes might be.

Can’t change everything for the good, but, don’t want to vote to make it worse.

Sam, Can you please take the time to explain the Spoiler effect,

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoiler_effect

This mathmatical election calculation is proven and explains why voting 3rd party in this current election system doesn’t work.

The 3rd party people have there heart in the right place, but they do not understand the election calcualtion outside of “we have todo the right thing”

    • Bhikshuni says:

There are two main problems mathematically speaking:

      1. If the # of minority votes are less than a certain amount (such as 1 or 2 standard deviations aka error margin amounts), they will not be seen to exist at all, statistically speaking.

      2. Even if the number is significant in terms of the popular vote, it is unlikely to be enough to change the outcome of the electoral college votes for a state, which is what determines the election outcome (i.e, Bush v Gore)

      • Hitandmiss says:

True enough, But what I am talking about is the issue they keep bringing up,

“we have to vote our beliefs, Obama is doing bad, Romney would do bad, Lets vote for someone who would do good”

While this sounds nice and all, Obama and Romney already Poll 40% each of the votes, So the Idea that people will see the Polls, know how the majority of people are going to vote, and not vote tacticaly, is nieve. They will Vote to spoil the outcome they do not want.

I’d Love for Sam to point to the Spoiler effect, as these 3rd party guys really do not understand the Game theory behind elections, Thus will never get the outcome they want.

    C’mon, Sam… Where’s the podcast Brosephus!
