Something Digby said regarding the fiscal situation in the country really bothered me. That there is no fiscal emergency, that we “print money”, and are theoretically unable to go bankrupt. Basically, a really arrogant and misinformed take on it IMO. I’m not sure if she’s so caught up in the political spin, that she’s forgotten there are actual crises in our midst that are in desperate need of addressing? Yes, of course the parties, special interests, lobbyists, think tanks, everyone basically, are spinning on all the big issues. But don’t lose sight of the problems themselves. It’s this super size me mentality, we print the momeny, we are the reserve currency, the world needs us, we can act like a househould that’s so far underwater that we’re getting synged by the earth’s molten core. ENOUGH!
