Obviously, this means we should raise the retirement age for SS http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/21/us/life-expectancy-for-less-educated-whites-in-us-is-shrinking.html?_r=0

For generations of Americans, it was a given that children would live longer than their parents. But there is now mounting evidence that this enduring trend has reversed itself for the country’s least-educated whites, an increasingly troubled group whose life expectancy has fallen by four years since 1990.

Researchers have long documented that the most educated Americans were making the biggest gains in life expectancy, but now they say mortality data show that life spans for some of the least educated Americans are actually contracting. Four studies in recent years identified modest declines, but a new one that looks separately at Americans lacking a high school diploma found disturbingly sharp drops in life expectancy for whites in this group. Experts not involved in the new research said its findings were persuasive.

The reasons for the decline remain unclear, but researchers offered possible explanations, including a spike in prescription drug overdoses among young whites, higher rates of smoking among less educated white women, rising obesity, and a steady increase in the number of the least educated Americans who lack health insurance.

Convinced that someone should give @SarahKSilverman a Daily Show-style show. This, like her last video, is hilarious http://letmypeoplevote2012.com/#.UFxXIUwwUWU.twitter

    Empty chair ‘lynchings’: Anti-Obama protests

In Austin, Texas, a homeowner hung an empty folding chair from a tree branch in front of his house and later attached an American flag to it. He reportedly told a Democratic political blogger who said she had concerns, “You can take it and go straight to hell and take Obama with you.”

In Centreville, Va., an empty chair with a sign reading “Nobama” was strung from a tree in or near a park. “In short, this appears to be a crude metaphor for the lynching of President Obama,” wrote the blogger who posted the photo.

The image of an empty chair has been associated with Obama ever since Clint Eastwood’s headline-grabbing, non-conformist speech at the Republican National Convention three weeks ago in Tampa, Fla.

I had a dream about Mitt. I was drinking a tub of milk for pleasure… and the cinnamon, oh, the cinnamon… nothing beats a good, old fashioned cinnamon stick, eh Mr. Romney?

Oy. I keep my tablet next to my bed and, for SOME reason, this post seemed much more reasonable at quarter to five in the morning.
      Oh well. :/

      FORWARD!

  13. stldem says:

Sam, I don’t think it is helpful to be glib about the election and proclaiming Obama the winner. We need to get out the vote. Don’t underestimate the get out the vote machine of the right wing. I also don’t think it is out of the question that we can take back the House. Even Cliff Schecter said it wasn’t out of the range of possibilities. Why even make the statement that it is not possible.

  14. Sam, catching up on Fridays show… on a past show you were called “King of the Jews” by Cliff, you objected to the highfalutin’ status, preferring the title, “Duke of the Jews”.
