I bought Octopus (through your link to Amazon) and really enjoyed it. He’s a great writer and great talker!
One thing relative to drug cartels is that the public lands all throughout California have been taken over by Mexican drug cartels to grow pot. You can read a fictionalized version, “Point Dume” by Katie Arnoldi, of what’s going on. The scenario she portrays here is accurate, confirmed by someone I know in law enforcement. It’s a really good read but a really scary problem.
