Guests: Talking Points Memo Reporter/Blogger Brian Beutler

Today is Boehner Day!  Sam starts off the show with Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s speech as she hands over the large “making up for some inadequacies” gavel to the new Speaker of the House John Boehner.  And then to be fair, airs just a few whelps from Boehner’s speech.

Elizabeth Warren is amazing – and she keeps on showing it by naming Holly Patraeus (wife of, yes that’s right, General David Patraeus) to the Consumer Financial Protection Agency in charge of protecting military families from predatory lenders.   Sam explains how this is a very smart move to strengthen the CFPA.

And now it’s time for:

Will Obama’s pick for White House Chief of Staff inspire hope for change? Nope.

Poverty?  We gots it.  Lots of it.

We’ll probably stay under 10% unemployment.  Yea.

Now back to Boehner and Congress – Brian Beutler, reporter and blogger for Talking Points Memo, survives a Boehner press conference to talk to Sam about Cut-Go and the tax loophole, the CBO, the Budget Committee, and filibusterer reform.  His explanations are thorough and well worth a listen to get up-to-speed on some complex topics.

BREAKING NEWS – Majority.FM opens Boehner Cries website.  Try to catch ‘em all!

Finally, in the soon to be sequestered After Show, Sam covers some news stories he didn’t have time for in the main show and takes listener IMs – Don’t miss it. Become a Majority Report Member to support the show!
