REPORT: 29 Companies Have More Cash On Hand Than The U.S. Treasury #debtlimit

As of July 13, 29 public companies had more cash on hand than the U.S. Treasury Department, according to the site Zero Hedge based on numbers from Capital IQ. It’s a stark reminder that if Congress refuses to raise the debt ceiling, the government won’t have nearly enough money to continue funding essential services and programs.

In the first half of July alone, Treasury cash balances were depleted from from $130 billion to just $39 billion. That means the most powerful nation on earth currently is tied with Google for the amount of cash that it has, and is less flush than Bank of America, JP Morgan Stanley, and Goldman Sachs, among others.

Great interview! I’m so glad this has been brought out in the open!

I thought it curious that ALEC was hatched by Milton Friedman in 1973, the same year his shock doctrine was implemented in Chile!

Did some digging into Friedman and found he came up with his education voucher idea in 1955, a year after Brown vs. Board of Education. From an interview I found this exchange:
Reason: What inspired you to come up with the idea of vouchers?

Milton Friedman: Nothing. (Laughs.) I mean there was nothing going on in the real world at the time that caused me to think of vouchers. I was writing a piece on the role of government in education, and I started to think about how government intervention tends not to work very well.”

“Nothing”, my ass! Not only did the guy have it in for common people, but he hated black people too! His lie is even punctuated with a laugh. What a complete bastard!
